Homework Topic - Year 1
Year 1 - St David’s Class
Welcome back to School for the summer term!
During this term we shall be looking at ‘Our Local Area’ (Humanities), ‘Push and Pull Forces’ (Science, first half term) ‘Sound and Hearing’ (Science second half term), Sculpture (Art), ‘Information around us’ (ICT) ‘People’ (PSHE) and in Religious Education we will be learning about the Resurrection and Miracles. A detailed breakdown of these areas is posted outside the classroom.
It is really helpful if you can talk about the topics being covered and help them become meaningful, for instance chat about where you live and your address, what shops there are, how people are employed and what leisure activities are available. For science discuss how things move including any toys they play with. In ICT children should learn that information can come from a variety of sources and be presented in different ways.
I want to thank you for continuing to read with your child. As you are aware it is important to encourage them to love books, and I know you have been doing this. Reading skills nurtured now will pay dividends in the future.
Thank you also for making sure homework is done each week, I will continue to send homework each Monday to be handed in on Friday - including spellings and maths work.
If you have any questions or problems please speak to me either before or after school.
Thank you again for all your continued support.
