Homework Topic – Year 4: St Peter
Dear Parents,
Welcome back and Happy New Year.
The children in Year 4 will take home Literacy and Numeracy homework on Thursday which will need to be completed for Wednesday. Occasionally there may be homework related to a topic we are covering in class which will need to be completed.
Maths
We will be finding fractions of amounts using division and multiplying 2 digit numbers using the grid method. The tables that we need to focus on this term are 4, 6 and 7.
English
The main homework is reading and spelling. It would be helpful if you could discuss the characters in the story. We will be concentrating on the adjectives used in sentences so please draw children’s attention to how they are used in their reading books.
Science
In Science the children will be learning about “solids and liquids”. We will be looking at diluting, freezing, separating and filtering. We will also be looking at ‘habitats’ around us and finding out how the animals adapt to their surroundings. If you are able to find books in the library on this subject then this will broaden the children’s information and enable them to share it with the class.
History
In History we are studying the Ancient Egyptians. We will be learning about Egyptian tombs, pyramids and burial sites as well as the importance of the River Nile to the Egyptian’s lives.
With thanks for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
NATALIA HARDING
Class Teacher
