Books
The best way you can help your child with reading is to share books together as often as possible. A shared story time can be a wonderful experience. If you say “I’m going to read you a story before you go to sleep”, your child will not get worried about books and “reading”. You can show your child what books are all about, how to hold them, which way to turn the pages and that pictures are an important part of a book. In this way your child will experience the first step in becoming a successful reader.
Make use of the book bag to carry books backwards and forwards each day. (These are available from the school office).
Toys
Playground toys, such as skipping ropes, are allowed for school playtimes. Large, precious or expensive toys are best kept at home.
