Physical Education
Physical Education is an important aspect of a child’s development and we aim to provide the children with a stimulating but safe environment, where they can develop physical skills.
All children are expected to take part in physical activities and to have appropriate clothing for these lessons, i.e. Swimming trunks or costume and towel on appropriate days; trainers or plimsolls, tracksuit or other clothing appropriate to outdoor games; t-shirt and shorts for indoor P.E.
Each child should have at least two sessions of P.E. a week. At present we have one swimming session per week - taken by Year 4. Being able to swim 25 metres by age 11 is part of the National Curriculum.
By offering a balanced programme of P.E. we aim to develop body control, self-discipline and confidence as well as specific physical skills.
Children should not wear jewellery to school as it is considered a hazard to any physical activity.
