Letter to Parents - update on 5th June 2020

Dear Parents/Carers, Re: week 1 Return to School Staff have been in and busy putting in place all the necessary procedures to ensure the safe return of the children.   These measures have been helped following my conversations with parents of those who are returning. Knowing the approximate number of children coming back, the Senior Leadership Team have been able to set up the appropriate provision. The school have added an additional Hall Bubble to accommodate our additional needs children. This Bubble will operate out of the hall and will be overseen by Miss Gisby. Your views highlight you are happy to continue with Home Learning and until further Government assurances are in place. Low numbers have been evident this week with only 6 children returning in Year 6. We predict that only a handful of Year 1 children will be coming back next week, and though they might be slightly higher within EYFS, the school is confident that the numbers will be well below the 15 needed for each Bubble. We have set up 1x Bubble per class going forward, with a teacher and support staff member allocated to it. A staff rota is now in place which will see all teaching and support staff teaching in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6. This will mean that Home Learning will continue throughout all year groups. It is important to highlight however, that with the continuation of Home Learning and the increased workload of teaching and end of year reports, marking of submitted work will be notably reduced from Monday 8th June.  The school continues to facilitate provision for vulnerable pupils and children of key workers. We know some employers will be encouraging you to return to work, but we are not in a position at the moment to extend places to other children until we receive further government guidance. We ask all parents of EYFS, Year 1 or Year 6 to give the school 1 weeks’ notice if they  request their children to  return to school over the coming weeks. If your child will remain at home, we will continue to support you and them with home learning, and the voucher scheme support for those eligible. Please do continue to stay in touch with us about how your child is getting on. Warm regards, Sean Small Headteacher
