Celebration of The Word

As part of our Celebration of the Word, we use The Mark 10 Mission to help bring Scripture to life for our children. The resources give us an engaging way to explore the Sunday Gospel through music, prayer, reflection and discussion. We use these sessions to help children understand the message of Jesus and think about how it connects to their own lives and the choices they make.
The children have opportunities to pray together, listen to the Gospel and reflect on what God might be saying to them. The lively and accessible approach helps our pupils to take part confidently, while also giving them time to be still, think and respond. We use Mark 10 Mission alongside our wider prayer and worship, helping children to develop a regular rhythm of listening to God's Word, celebrating together and putting their faith into action.
We would also encourage parents to take a look at The Mark 10 Mission to see the resources and approach we use with the children. It is a lovely way to share the Sunday Gospel together at home and gives families an opportunity to talk, pray and reflect together.

Prayer Group
An impressive 102 children attended the prayer group led by Mrs Perera and Miss Erokwu. The large turnout highlighted the children's enthusiasm and commitment to participating in the session. Both teachers provided thoughtful guidance, creating a meaningful and reflective atmosphere for all involved.

Child - led Celebration of The Word
Alongside our whole-school Celebration of the Word, we also make time for child-led celebrations within our classrooms. These are planned and led by the children themselves, giving them the opportunity to take an active role in sharing their faith with others. Children choose Scripture, prayers, songs and reflections and think carefully about the message they want to share with their class. This gives them the confidence to express their thoughts and feelings about God, while creating a calm and welcoming space where everyone has the opportunity to listen, reflect and pray together.
Year 5 Celebrate The Word with younger children
Our Year 4 classes have Celebrated The Word with younger children around the school. They prepared everything with care, including meaningful readings, thought-provoking questions, and reflective music to guide the prayer time. It was a special moment of faith and community, as Year 5 shared their gifts to inspire and connect with their younger peers.
Mini Vinnies Celebrate The Word - Luke 16:1-13
Our Mini Vinnies regularly lead Child-Led Celebrations of the Word. Through the Gospel of St Luke 16:1–13, the children reflected on how we can use what we have to help others through kindness, generosity and everyday actions.
We are proud of the children for leading with such confidence, maturity and compassion. Our Mini Vinnie group is open to all, and we welcome any children who would like to get involved.
Mini Vinnies Celebrate The Word - Luke 16:19-31

Our Mini Vinnie group explored the Gospel of St Luke 16:19–31, the story of the rich man and poor Lazarus, during their Child-Led Celebration of the Word.
Through the Gospel, the children reflected on Catholic Social Teaching, particularly the Dignity of the Human Person, The Preferential Option for the Poor, and Solidarity. They discussed how we can follow Jesus’ example by noticing those in need and responding with love, kindness, fairness and compassion.
The children also wrote prayers asking God to help us live out these values in our everyday lives. We are so proud of the thoughtful way they engaged with the Gospel and explored how we can put our faith into action.
