We welcome Councillor Khaireh to Our Lady of Grace

The School Council members had a fantastic time meeting Councillor Adel Khaireh, Labour’s councillor for Plumstead and Glyndon today. During the visit, they were eager to learn more about his role within the local community and the responsibilities that come with being an elected representative. Councillor Khaireh spoke about the importance of teamwork, listening to others, and making decisions that benefit everyone — qualities that also make a great school council member. He shared his experiences of working with local residents, addressing community concerns, and helping to shape improvements across the area. The pupils asked thoughtful questions about leadership, fairness, and how they could make a real difference within their own school. Councillor Khaireh encouraged them to be confident in sharing their ideas, to work collaboratively, and to always consider the views of their peers.

Autumn Girls Shield Football Tournament

On Thursday 16th October, 8 girls from years 5 and 6 took part in the Autumn Girls Shield Football Tournament held at Charlton Athletic Training Ground. They were narrowly beaten to a semi-final place by the eventual finalists. We are immensely proud of their efforts and they displayed tremendous teamwork as this was their first competitive match. We wish the boys team every success as they will be competing in the Autumn Boys Shield Football Tournament on 23rd October. This team will comprise 8 boys from years 5 and 6.

Parking at Our Lady of Grace School - Response from Royal Borough of Greenwich

Despite numerous requests to park considerately and responsibly when dropping off and picking up children from school, there are still parents who are continually blocking driveways, parking on yellow lines and stopping in the middle of the road to drop children off.  These actions create safety hazards for our children and cause inconvenience to our neighbours and the wider community. This has now been escalated to Royal Borough of Greenwich who have assured us that the images taken have been shared with the relevant colleagues at RBG, who are working on a full response to ascertain what further measures can be taken to address what they view as unsafe practices that are breach of the highway code through enforcement. We will keep you informed of future developments.
