Boys Summer Shield - June 2026
The year 6 boys football team took part in the Summer Football Shield at St Paul's Academy recently against other local schools.
The boys performed really well in all their matches, qualifying for the semi finals from the group stage in 2nd place.
A tough semi final against Boxgrove ended 1-1 after extra time and so it went down to penalties. Unfortunately, the boys lost the shootout and ended up knocked out of the tournament.
They should be extremely proud of their efforts in all football competitions this year. They reached the final and semi final in every competition they took part in which is a fantastic achievement.
The squad this year was Harry, Elijah, Damarie, Emmanuel, Jacob, Bernardo, Dante, Kaizer, Kaleb and Joseph.
Girls Summer Shield - June 2026
Our girls' football team took part in the Girls' Summer Shield at St Paul's Academy.
In a tough group with St Patrick's and Boxgrove school, the girls had to play 4 group games to qualify for the final. The girls managed to get 10 points from 12, only drawing one game and conceding one goal in the process and flew into the final.
The final was a rematch against Boxgrove School which promised to be an extremely tough game. The girls were absolutely excellent and dominated the game from start to finish. They won 3-0 and were crowned winners of the Summer Shield.
The girls have been absolutely excellent at every tournament they attended this year. In their previous tournament they had been desperately unlucky not to qualify for the final and they put that disappointment well and truly behind them in this one.
The squad this year was Anzelma, Nethra, Chizara, Mary, Teniola, Michelle, Dabira, Nia.

London Cricket Final
The 2025 London Cricket final was held recently at Beckenham. The team qualified for the final by winning their Greenwich regional competition last July.
We anticipated a highly competitive competition but the children attacked it with great confidence after training really well in the last few weeks.
They flew through their first three group games winning all the games comfortably. Some superb batting and bowling, coupled with a few defining fielding moments in the last group game from Matthew and Demilade which set the team up for a tough quarter final against a school from Dulwich.
Superb batting from Jeremy, Charles and Fenix set the team up for a huge semi final against a team from Bromley. Monty, Isaac and Thomas had a great spell on the bat in the final game and some fantastic bowling from Louise saw the team sail into the final.
Our opponents in the final were an exceptional team and the children gave their very best display but were edged out.
Everyone should be very proud of the children. Over 700 schools started in this competition so to finish second overall is an outstanding achievement. The school has now won the Greenwich regional competition 3 years running, won the London finals once, and now a second placed finish. It is a wonderful record which the children of OLOG should be very proud of.
A fantastic achievement coming 2nd out of 700 London Primary schools.
Charlton Winter Shield Tournament
On Thursday 27th November our boys football team took part in the Charlton Winter Shield tournament.
Drawn in a very tough group, the boys played very well against two tough opponents in St Fidelis and St Mary’s, and recorded a good victory against Discovery.
The boys ended up in a third place play off against Fosters school and finished with a 2-1 victory to secure a third place finish.
They represented the school superbly once again and should be very proud of their efforts. The team was Lucas, Jacob, Bernardo, Micai, Luca, Matthew, Herbert, Ace and Noah.
Autumn Boys Shield Football Tournament
On 23rd October 2025, the boys football team played in their first tournament of the year on Thursday at Charlton's training ground.
They played 9 games, winning 4, drawing 3 and losing 2.
Their performance was excellent considering it was the first time they had played together and grew visibly in confidence as the day went on, despite losing one of the squad to illness.
They should be very proud of their efforts.
Autumn Girls Shield Football Tournament
On Thursday 16th October, 8 girls from years 5 and 6 took part in the Autumn Girls Shield Football Tournament held at Charlton Athletic Training Ground. They were narrowly beaten to a semi-final place by the eventual finalists. We are immensely proud of their efforts and they displayed tremendous teamwork as this was their first competitive match.
We wish the boys team every success as they will be competing in the Autumn Boys Shield Football Tournament on 23rd October. This team will comprise 8 boys from years 5 and 6.
