Social Media and Online Safety Workshop

Today, Year 5 welcomed Mr Taylor, who gave a talk about social media and mobile phone safety. He discussed the appropriate age limits for different apps and emphasised that online friends are strangers. The children enjoyed sharing their own experiences, including their social media habits and what their parents do and don’t know about how they use their devices. We also talked about how to report and block anything that makes us feel uncomfortable online.

New Build Update and Thank you to PTFA

Over the half-term break, our building contractors were on site completing all outstanding snagging items in the new building. This marks another important step in ensuring that the space is fully ready for the children to enjoy, and we are delighted with the progress that has been made. I would also like to express my sincere thanks to the PTFA, who have very generously donated £9,000 towards the installation of the red rubber crumb surface at the back of the new building. This new surface will significantly enhance the outdoor learning and play environment, providing a safer, more durable, and more accessible area for all pupils to use throughout the year. The PTFA’s continued support plays a vital role in enriching the school experience for our children. Their fundraising efforts made possible by the time, energy, and generosity of our parent community have a direct and meaningful impact on the facilities and opportunities we are able to offer. We are extremely grateful for their commitment and for the difference they make.

Online Safety and Mobile Phone usage

Online Safety and Mobile Phone Usage As part of our School Improvement Plan (SIP) priorities for 2025/26, our safeguarding focus is the online safety of our children and their use of mobile phones. We would like to invite you to an important information session on online and mobile phone usage for children, taking place on Monday 2nd March at 1.30pm. The session will be delivered by Jonathan Taylor, a highly regarded online safety and social media consultant. Jonathan is widely recognised for his expertise in helping schools, parents and young people navigate the fast changing digital world. With the growing influence of social media and online communication in young people’s lives, this session is especially relevant. We strongly encourage you to attend, as it will provide valuable insights into how we can work together to support safe, responsible, and healthy online behaviour. We look forward to seeing you there.
