Your engagement and support play an essential role in shaping the direction of our school community and we are grateful for your involvement. We are delighted to share that Esther Kwatia has been elected as our new Parent Governor. We look forward to the insight, commitment, and perspective she will bring to the governing body. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Nick Jupe and Tolu Omolyele, who both put themselves forward as candidates. Posted on: 28/01/2026Reading WorkshopParents recently attended a Reading Workshop led by Miss Maddison. The session shared effective strategies to support your child at home with reading and ways to encourage confident, capable readers. Families were also given an overview of the approaches we use in school, followed by a live example reading session delivered by Mrs Adeyemi and her Year 2 pupils. Posted on: 27/01/2026Charlton Athletic Visit - 27th January 2026We were delighted to welcome Tanto Olaofe, a Charlton Athletic professional football player and Anna Pedersen the goal keeper for the Charlton Athletic's female team for a special assembly for years 4, 5 and 6. The children were able to ask questions and it was a very insightful visit. We look forward to more engagements with Charlton Athletic Football club.
Posted on: 22/01/2026EYFS Phonics WorkshopOur recent EYFS Phonics Workshop was a great success, giving parents a chance to see first-hand how we teach early reading and phonics at school. Families enjoyed practical demonstrations of our teaching methods and experienced how learning through play supports children’s reading development. One parent commented, “The demonstration was helpful for us to understand the teaching process at school,” while another said, “Great to see learning through play – has given me great tips for when we are at home!” It was wonderful to see so many parents engaged and inspired to support their children’s learning at home.
Posted on: 21/01/2026EYFS Maths WorkshopOur recent EYFS Maths Workshop gave parents an opportunity to explore how we teach early maths skills in the classroom. Families took part in hands-on activities alongside their children and saw how play-based learning supports understanding of numbers and problem-solving. One parent shared, “It was so helpful to see how maths is taught at school – I now feel more confident supporting my child at home,” while another said, “I loved taking part in the activities with my child – it was fun and informative!”

This session will strengthen the partnership between home and school by providing valuable insights into our reading practices and how you can best support your child’s reading development. The workshop will cover: - The importance of developing confident readers: Expectations for reading assessments, including the Year 1 Phonics Check and The Year 2 and Year 6 SATs - Practical strategies to help build your child’s fluency and comprehension skills at home - A reading group demonstration from our staff and pupils.

The session shared clear strategies, helpful tips, and confidence-building approaches to strengthen children’s language skills and encourage a positive attitude towards reading and writing. There are three nominations and the closing date for voting is 26th January 2026. Each family is entitled to vote once for one candidate. The winner will be announced on Friday 31st January. Posted on: 19/01/2026Inconsiderate Parking at Our Lady of Grace schoolAs a school, we work hard to build a positive partnership with the community we serve. That is why it is deeply disappointing to continue receiving complaints from local residents about the way some parents are parking during drop off and pick-up times. Last week alone, the school received three separate complaints regarding unsafe and inconsiderate parking. The photo shared is just one example of behaviour that is simply unacceptable. It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt if this selfish behaviour continues. We will continue to support our residents in raising their concerns with Greenwich Council and the Police. Every day, we ask our children to do their best. I am now asking the same of all parents. Please park safely, respectfully, and with the wellbeing of our whole community in mind.
